Verify Gold Purity at Home

As gold prices soar, ensuring the quality of your purchase is a wise decision. For the middle class, gold is not merely an ornament but a valuable investment. Purchasing pure gold promises good returns in the future. In this era of adulterated gold, hallmarking regulations offer some assurance to buyers.
But did you know you can easily check gold purity with the phone in your hand?
Simply download the BIS Care app. Then, either scan the HUID number of your purchased gold jewelry or enter it directly into the app.
Entering the HUID number will provide you with detailed information about the jeweler, their registration number, the gold’s purity, the type of jewelry, and the hallmarking center. Remember, the 6-digit HUID guarantees gold purity and ensures fair market value in the future.
When buying 18, 22, or 20-carat gold, always look for the ‘hallmark’. On hallmarked gold, you must find the BIS logo, carat, fineness, and the 6-digit HUID. Every hallmarked piece of jewelry has its unique HUID number. It is crucial to note that selling hallmarked gold without a 6-digit HUID has been prohibited since March 31, 2023.
If you find any discrepancy in the quality of hallmarked jewelry, be sure to file a complaint and take necessary action. If the purity of hallmarked jewelry is proven to be less than stated, you may also receive a refund.
So, the next time you buy gold, ensure you are getting the genuine article. Verifying quality is always a smart move. Your small act of awareness can prevent significant losses.
