LIC’s Double Whammy: Record-Breaking Sales & ₹19,013 Crore Profit in 3 Months!

Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) is on a roll! Fresh off setting a Guinness World Record for selling the most policies in 24 hours, the insurance giant has now announced a staggering ₹19,013 crore net profit in just three months. This impressive 38% surge in profit for the January-March quarter of fiscal year 2024-25 highlights LIC’s robust financial performance and its continued dominance in the Indian insurance sector. The company had previously reported a profit of ₹13,763 crore in the same quarter last year, showcasing significant growth.
Despite a slight dip in total income to ₹2,41,625 crore from ₹2,50,923 crore in the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year, and a decrease in income from new policy premiums, LIC’s overall financial health appears strong. The income from new premiums for existing policies, however, saw an increase, contributing to the positive results. For the entire fiscal year 2024-25, LIC’s profit soared by 18% to ₹48,151 crore, up from ₹40,676 crore in fiscal year 2023-24. The total income for the last fiscal year also rose to ₹8,84,148 crore. The board has recommended a final dividend of ₹12 per equity share for fiscal year 2024-25, pending approval. This remarkable performance, coupled with the recent world record of issuing 5,88,107 life insurance policies by 452,839 agents across India in a single day, underscores LIC’s unparalleled operational efficiency and its agents’ dedication.
