Four Children Tragically Suffocate in Parked Car in Andhra Pradesh

Four children tragically suffocated to death inside a parked car in Daudapudi village, Andhra Pradesh, casting a pall of grief over the entire area. The deceased children, aged between six and eight years old, included one boy and three girls.

Details of the Incident

According to local sources, the four children entered a car parked in front of the Mahila Mandal office in Daudapudi village while playing.

The children opened the car door and got inside, and suddenly the car locked from the inside, trapping them. They were unable to get out, and consequently, suffocated due to lack of ventilation inside the vehicle.

Andhra Pradesh Minister Kondappa Srinivas stated that the children’s family members had gone to attend a wedding ceremony, where they allowed the children to play. Initially, the children were playing outside, but later they opened the car door, entered, and became trapped. The parents assumed the children were playing and did not immediately look for them. After a long time, not seeing the children, they began searching around. The children were then rescued from inside the locked car.

Declared Dead at Hospital

The children were rushed to a nearby hospital, but doctors declared them dead. Police reported that the children died due to lack of oxygen inside the car. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination and were later handed over to their families.

Grief and Investigation

A deep sense of sorrow pervades Daudapudi village following this incident. Local residents and the children’s families are devastated. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are contacting the car owner. Initial investigations suggest that the car belonged to a local resident and had been rented for the wedding. The vehicle was parked, and the door was likely unlocked, allowing the children easy access.

Government Response

Minister Kondappa Srinivas visited the site and extended his condolences to the children’s families. He stated, “This is an extremely tragic incident. We stand with the families and will provide them with all necessary support.” He also emphasized the importance of increasing public awareness to prevent such incidents in the future.

Need for Public Awareness

This incident raises serious questions about the safety of parked cars and the importance of child supervision. Experts advise that it is crucial to lock vehicles when parked in public places and to keep a close watch on children. Local administration and parents are urged to learn from this incident and be more cautious to avoid similar accidents in the future.
