New Delhi, April 29, 2025: The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results for the National Defence Academy (NDA)-1 2025 examination, conducted on April 13, 2025. The results, released as a merit list, are now available on the official website, upsc.gov.in, listing the roll numbers and names of successful candidates. Those who appeared for the exam can check their status online, marking the first step toward a prestigious career in India’s armed forces.

True to its reputation for efficiency, UPSC published the results within 20 days of the examination. Candidates who have cleared the written test now face the next phase of the selection process: the Service Selection Board (SSB) interview. This rigorous five-day evaluation assesses candidates’ personality, mental aptitude, and suitability for a career in the Army, Navy, or Air Force. “The SSB interview is a challenging yet fair process that tests leadership qualities,” says Rajesh Kumar, a former SSB instructor from Delhi. Successful candidates will compete for 406 vacancies across the armed forces.

To access the results, candidates must visit upsc.gov.in, navigate to the ‘What’s New’ section, and click the NDA-1 result link. A PDF file containing the merit list will display the roll numbers of selected candidates. Those shortlisted for the SSB interview can choose their interview date and time and download their call letter from the respective service board’s website.

Each year, approximately 4-5 lakh candidates apply for the NDA exam, but only 7,000-8,000 clear the written test, resulting in a success rate of just 2-3%. Those who navigate the entire process successfully will secure officer positions in the Indian armed forces. The NDA exam remains a golden opportunity for young aspirants eager to serve the nation, offering a path to leadership and honor in defense services.
