India has significantly bolstered its defense capabilities in recent years, with its missile might standing as a cornerstone of national security. According to a PIB report, the 2025-26 defense budget allocates ₹6.81 lakh crore, including ₹1,48,722.80 crore for weapons and missile procurement. Missiles like Prithvi, Agni, and Shaurya are designed to counter threats at varying ranges, from short-distance strikes to targets thousands of kilometers away. Defense expert Dr. Anil Sharma notes, “India’s missile might now forces adversaries to think twice before acting.” This formidable arsenal underscores India’s strategic dominance in the region.

Short-range missiles like Prithvi-I and II (150-350 km range) are engineered for rapid, precise battlefield strikes, while Shaurya, a hypersonic nuclear-capable missile, boasts a 700 km range with pinpoint accuracy. Surface-to-air systems like Akash and QRSAM neutralize enemy aircraft and drones mid-flight. Long-range Agni-V (5,500+ km) and cruise missiles, equipped with nuclear payloads, provide strategic superiority, incorporating advanced technologies like Multiple Independently Targetable Reentry Vehicles (MIRVs). These systems ensure India can respond decisively to any aggression, particularly from neighbors like Pakistan.

India’s missile might extends beyond land-based systems. Submarine-launched ballistic missiles, such as K-15 and K-4, enable nuclear strikes from the sea, while anti-tank missiles like Nag and Helina excel at destroying armored vehicles. “These missiles make India’s defense impregnable,” says defense analyst Rajat Mehra. With cutting-edge propulsion, navigation, and targeting systems, India’s arsenal serves as a stark warning to Pakistan, capable of delivering a devastating response in the blink of an eye.
