Srinagar: The horrific terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir on 22 April 2025 shook the country, in which 26 innocent tourists lost their lives. The echo of this attack reached international forums, and Russia and America showed solidarity with India and supported strict action against the terrorists. TRF, a front organization of Lashkar-e-Taiba, took responsibility for the attack, after which India reiterated its resolve to punish the culprits.

Russia and America solidarity
Russia condemned the attack and advised its citizens to avoid traveling to Pakistan. Russian President Vladimir Putin said, “There is no justification for this brutal crime; the culprits must be punished.” On the other hand, US President Donald Trump spoke to PM Narendra Modi over the phone and expressed condolences and assured India of all possible help against terrorism. US Intelligence Director Tulsi Gabbard said, “We stand with India and will cooperate in bringing the terrorists to justice.” This support indicates intelligence and strategic assistance to India.

India’s tough response

Prime Minister Narendra Modi termed the attack as “heinous” and said, “Terrorists will not be spared; every culprit will be punished.” Home Minister Amit Shah has reviewed the security in Srinagar, and the Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police have intensified the search operation. Analysts believe that India will now increase pressure to hold Pakistan accountable at international forums. Defense expert Ajay Mehta said, “The support of Russia and America gives India a strong position against terrorism at the global level.”

Way forward

The Pahalgam attack has forced India to take a tougher stand against terrorism. The threat has also increased due to rumors spread on social media, which needs to be controlled. With global support, India is ready to take decisive steps to eradicate terrorists.
