Human future in the robot age: Will jobs be lost or new possibilities open up?

The age of robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping human employment. Robots in factories like Germany’s BMW and Japan’s Toyota are making car manufacturing faster and cost-effective, but the demand for traditional workers is declining. Robot waiters in Dhaka, Bangladesh and automated cutting machines in India reflect the expansion of this technology. This change is bringing new possibilities as well as threats to jobs. According to a World Economic Forum report, 85 million traditional jobs may be lost by 2025, but AI and automation will create 97 million new jobs.
Researchers believe that robots will free humans from repetitive and risky tasks and provide opportunities in areas such as creativity and analysis. Technology expert Dr. Reena Mehta says, “Robots are assistants, not competitors. Farmers, doctors or engineers can work more efficiently with the help of robots.” However, for this, the education system will have to focus on creativity, problem solving and technical skills. New careers such as robot programming and maintenance are emerging.
Analysts say the key to success in the robot age is continuous skill development. Societies that embrace this change will be able to take advantage of new possibilities. Preparation and adaptation, rather than fear, are the keys to the future. Collaboration with robots can take humanity on a sustainable and innovative path.
