Kolkata: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) suffered a crushing defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Chepauk on Friday. Despite Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s return to captaincy, the team collapsed for 103 runs, which is their lowest score at Chepauk. Dhoni was controversially dismissed on Sunil Narayan’s ball after scoring just 1 run. Despite the ‘spike’ appearing in the Ultra Edge, the third umpire declared him out, which sparked a debate on social media. But former cricketer Virender Sehwag sidelined this controversy and questioned Dhoni’s strategy.

Sehwag said, “Even if Dhoni had stayed till the end, CSK would have scored only 130 runs. KKR chased 104 runs in 10.1 overs. The only difference a few more runs would have made is that we would have come live at 11:30.” His comments reflect his disappointment over CSK’s poor showing. The third consecutive defeat at Chepauk has left fans disappointed. “It was exciting to see Dhoni but this defeat is heartbreaking,” said local spectator Ramesh Yadav. The defeat is a warning shot for CSK as KKR exposed their weaknesses to perfection.
