The double sunrise is a rare cosmic event that will occur on Saturday, March 29, 2025, during sunrise, as it coincides with the year’s first solar eclipse in 2025. Although it won’t be a total solar eclipse like the one on April 8, 2024, this partial solar eclipse will occur during sunrise, resulting in a rare view of a crescent sun on the horizon and the unusual sight of separate segments of the sun rising independently.

How Long Will the Double Sunrise Be Visible?

The largest eclipse will be visible in the Nunavik region of Quebec, Canada, where 94% of the sun will be visible at sunrise. North America also has the opportunity to witness this astronomical wonder, a stunning effect, during sunrise. This astronomical event will begin at 4:50 AM local time and last until 8:43 AM.

Where Will the Double Sunrise Be Visible?

This celestial wonder will be most visible to people in the northeastern coastal US states. It will be visible in 13 states, including Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, Washington DC, and Virginia. The eclipse will be visible in these states between 6:13 AM and 7:17 AM.
