Big tension of 120 crore mobile users is over, now you will get tremendous connectivity even in the mountains

DoT i.e. Department of Telecommunications has brought good news for 120 crore mobile users of the country. Now even if you go to any remote area of the country, you will get mobile network connectivity. No matter which telecom operator’s SIM you use, you will not face any problem in network connectivity.

The Department of Telecommunications has started Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) for remote areas, through which mobile users will get better connectivity in any remote area.

What is ICR?

You must have heard about national and international roaming. Using the SIM of one telecom circle in another telecom circle in the country is called national roaming. Earlier, in roaming, charges had to be paid for incoming and outgoing calls. Telecom companies are now providing free national roaming facility to the users.

At the same time, in international roaming, users can use the facility of incoming and outgoing calls, SMS and data on their mobile number even outside the country. For this, users have to activate international roaming service, which is chargeable.

Intra circle roaming means that a user using a SIM of one mobile operator in the same telecom circle can use mobile services using the network of another mobile operator. For example, if you are in a remote area where only Jio network is available and you have a BSNL SIM card, then you will be able to avail mobile services using Jio’s mobile network.

Facility will be available from Digital India Fund funded towers

The Department of Telecommunications has made intra circle roaming facility available to mobile users in collaboration with telecom operators. However, this facility can be availed only from mobile towers installed by Digital India Fund.

In case of any emergency, telecom operators provide free intra circle roaming to users. During the recent cyclone in Odisha, telecom operators Airtel, Jio, Vodafone-Idea and BSNL had turned on intra circle roaming. Under this, people were able to avail mobile services using any mobile network.
