The debate over voter list transparency has been ongoing for years, but the recent rise in fake voters has prompted the Election Commission to take stricter action. While linking Aadhaar with Voter ID (EPIC) has been discussed for a long time, the Election Commission and UIDAI will now jointly review the matter.

A crucial meeting was held in Delhi on Tuesday, attended by the Union Home Secretary, the Parliamentary Secretary of the Law Ministry, the IT Secretary, and the CEO of UIDAI. Following the meeting, the Election Commission announced that the technical aspects of Aadhaar-EPIC linking will be thoroughly examined. Discussions with experts will be conducted soon to determine the next steps in ensuring a clean and transparent voter list.
