‘This is just the beginning’, more than 400 people killed in attack on Gaza; Israel will not stop now

Palestine has claimed that more than 400 people have been killed in Israel’s latest air strikes on the Gaza Strip. These attacks began early Tuesday, shattering the two-month temporary peace implemented since January.

According to Palestinian health officials, hundreds of people have also been injured in these attacks, and women and children are also among the dead. On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that this attack is “just the beginning” and the military operation will continue until Hamas is eliminated.

Accused of breaking the ceasefire agreement

Palestinian officials said that the Israeli army carried out air strikes in several areas from northern Gaza to the south. Hamas termed these attacks as “deception” and accused Israel of breaking the ceasefire agreement. A Hamas spokesman said that these attacks are endangering the lives of hostages in Gaza. The Israeli army claims that these attacks have been carried out targeting Hamas’ “terrorist bases”.

Action against Hamas with increasing military force

Netanyahu said that this attack is “only the beginning” and Israel will continue to move forward until it achieves all its war objectives which are to destroy Hamas and free all the people held hostage by the terrorist group. Netanyahu said in a television address, “Hamas rejected proposals to extend the ceasefire. From now on, we will take action against Hamas with increasing military force.” He appealed to the citizens of Gaza to move to safe places and blamed Hamas for every civilian casualty.

The international community has expressed concern over these attacks. UN officials have called it “unacceptable” and demanded an immediate ceasefire. Many countries have condemned Israel’s action, while some analysts believe that this attack could further increase tensions in the region.

Aid supplies have been blocked

The humanitarian crisis in Gaza is already deepening. Israel has blocked aid supplies for the past two weeks, making the situation worse for the 2.3 million population there. People reported that Gazans were seen fleeing their homes during the attacks, and fire and smoke were seen in many places. This latest violence has taken place at a time when talks between Israel and Hamas regarding the release of hostages and a permanent ceasefire were stalled. Hamas says that Netanyahu’s government is trying to strengthen its political position through these attacks.
