Big news! New step in self-reliance, special hub being built in Kolkata

Inspired by the slogan of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s self-reliant India, several sectors of the country have reduced their dependence on foreign products. By reducing the use of imported products from abroad, the use of products made with domestic technology has increased in several important sectors from railways to defense.
India is becoming self-reliant
Now the sensors used in the country’s defense and railway services are going to be made in India. In defense or railways, the importance of sensors is immense in getting early warnings of any problem or danger. Until now, such sensors were imported from abroad.
However, this time the Indian government has taken the initiative to reduce imports from abroad and make such sensors in the country. A sensor hub is going to be built in Kolkata under the government’s initiative. Sensors used in defense, railways, multi-storey buildings, and flyovers will be made in this hub in Kolkata. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the country has set a goal of becoming technologically self-reliant in line with the times.
As part of that goal, fiber sensors are going to be manufactured in India. The sensor hub will be built at the Central Glass and Ceramics Research Institute under the central initiative. After receiving clearance from the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the government of India, the initial plan for the preparation of DPR and other works is also ready.
Professor Vikramjit Basu, Director of the Central Glass and Ceramics Research Institute, told a private news media, “The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology of the Government of India is helping us to set up the ‘CSIR-MeitY Innovation Center’. Several organizations, including the West Bengal Government’s WEBEL, are involved here. This is the first organization in the country to set up a hub to manufacture such fiber-based sensors.”
According to sources, five types of sensors will be built in this sensor hub called ‘CSIR-MeitY Innovation Center’. This sensor hub in Kolkata is also going to become known in the coming days as the country’s (India) first startup company providing solutions to IoT sensor-related problems.
