Visa Revoked for Supporting Hamas, Indian Student Leaves the U.S.

An Indian student, Ranjini Srinivas, studying at Columbia University, has left the United States after her visa was revoked due to her public support for the Palestinian militant group Hamas. The U.S. government had withdrawn her visa recently, citing concerns over internal security. Ranjini, who was conducting research on urban planning, had entered the U.S. on an F-1 student visa. She had participated in protests against Israeli attacks on Gaza, during which she showed support for Hamas, leading to her visa being canceled.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security shared a video of Ranjini at the airport, indicating that while the country is always open to issuing visas for academic purposes, support for terrorism or violence will not be tolerated. Ranjini, who holds a master’s degree in urban planning from Columbia University, decided to leave the U.S. voluntarily, amidst growing concerns over her actions. This case highlights the U.S. administration’s zero-tolerance policy toward individuals supporting terrorist organizations.
