WPL 2025 Champion MI: Mumbai Indians Clinch Title Again, Defeat Delhi Capitals

Mumbai Indians have emerged as the champions of the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2025, defeating Delhi Capitals by 8 runs in a thrilling final at Brabourne Stadium. Delhi was set a target of 150 runs by Mumbai after the latter posted 149/7 in their allotted overs. Despite a valiant effort, Delhi could only manage 141/9 in their chase, falling short by 8 runs. This victory marks Mumbai Indians’ second WPL title, having previously won the inaugural season in 2023. On the other hand, Delhi Capitals suffered their third consecutive final loss in the WPL.
Mumbai’s captain, Harmanpreet Kaur, played a stellar knock of 66 off 44 balls, leading her team to a competitive total. England’s Nat Sciver-Brunt contributed a quick 30 off 28 balls, hitting four boundaries. Delhi’s bowlers, including Marizanne Kapp and Jess Jonassen, fought hard, with Kapp taking two wickets. However, Delhi’s chase was hampered early on, and despite some good resistance, they couldn’t reach the target. Mumbai’s strong middle-order batting and solid bowling helped them secure the win.
