Imran Khan Support Leads to Fines for 8 Pakistani Cricketers

Off-field issues continue to add to the turmoil in Pakistan cricket, as eight players have been fined by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) for supporting former Prime Minister and cricket legend Imran Khan, who is currently serving a prison sentence for a political case. The fines include a hefty amount for pace all-rounder Aamer Jamal, who was fined PKR 1.4 million (over 500,000 Pakistani Rupees). The fine was imposed after Jamal wore a hat with the number “804” written inside it, which is the prisoner number of Imran Khan.
In addition to this, the PCB imposed fines on three players for arriving late at the team hotel during their home series against England, and four others for violating team curfew regulations during their tour of South Africa. These incidents are just the latest in a series of controversies surrounding Pakistan’s cricket team. Despite the ongoing criticism and PCB’s efforts to handle disciplinary matters internally, the public nature of these fines has led to renewed discussions about the state of the team’s conduct both on and off the field.
