Stormy Weather to Hit South Bengal from March 20

South Bengal is bracing for stormy weather as heavy rain, thunder, and gusty winds are forecasted to hit the region starting March 20. According to the Alipur Weather Office, all districts in South Bengal will experience widespread rainfall accompanied by lightning and strong winds over the next few days. The combination of these weather conditions is expected to bring down day and night temperatures significantly. On Saturday, meteorologist Saurish Bandhyopadhyay warned that Bankura, Jhargram, West Bardhaman, West Medinipur, and Birbhum districts would be particularly affected by heatwaves. A similar alert has been issued for Purulia as well.
The weather system is expected to shift dramatically due to increased moisture levels from the Bay of Bengal, replacing the dry heat with humid conditions. This change will set the stage for scattered showers across South Bengal on March 20 and 21. Meanwhile, North Bengal may also witness rainfall in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Alipurduar until Sunday, while other northern districts remain dry. Temperatures in North Bengal could rise by 2-4°C in the coming days. Residents are advised to stay cautious as the fluctuating weather patterns bring both relief and challenges.
