A shadow of grief has fallen on the Mukherjee family of Bollywood. Veteran actor Dev Mukherjee has passed away. He is known to the current generation as the beloved uncle of Kajol and Rani Mukherjee. He was the father of famous director Ayan Mukherjee and had been the head of the Mukherjee family for a long time.

He breathed his last at the age of 83 this morning (March 15).

It is learned that Dev Mukherjee had been suffering from old age-related ailments for the past one month. He died this morning. His last rites will be performed at the Pawanhams crematorium in Juhu in the afternoon. A host of Bollywood stars are with the Mukherjee family in this moment of grief.

Many Bollywood stars including Kajol, Rani Mukherjee, Ajay Devgn, Tanuja, Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Hrithik Roshan, Sidharth Malhotra will be present at the funeral of Dev Mukherjee. Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt have always been like family to Ayan Mukherjee. It is learnt that they are consoling Ayan, who is grieving the death of his father, during this difficult time. They will also attend the funeral in the afternoon.

Dev Mukherjee has acted in several popular films in Bollywood. His performances in films like ‘Aanshu Ban Gaye Phool’, ‘Abhinetri’, ‘Do Aankhe’, ‘Bato Bato Mein’, ‘Kaminey’, ‘Gudgudi’ are etched in the minds of the audience. His son Ayan Mukherjee is also a renowned director in Bollywood. Dev Mukherjee was associated with the film industry till the last day of his life. His death has cast a shadow of grief over Bollywood.
