Yunus’ government’s hesitation on elections smells of ‘conspiracy’, BNP announces program with strong message

Days are passing by. But Muhammad Yunus’ interim government is still not showing any such activity on elections. Sometimes they say that elections will be held in December, sometimes it is known that the elections will be held in March next year. And BNP is smelling ‘conspiracy’ in this hesitation.
Once again, Khaleda Zia’s party has announced a new program with a strong message on elections. However, they are still optimistic about the vote.
BNP leaders say that despite repeatedly demanding an election roadmap, no clear message is coming from the interim government. On the contrary, various doubts are increasing. They are optimistic about the statements of the chief advisor, the Election Commission, and the army chief. However, conspiracy is seen in the talks of various government advisors and others. In this situation, BNP will be on the field from next April to prevent ‘election conspiracy’ with programs like meetings and rallies. This decision was taken in principle when the issue came up at the party’s national standing committee meeting last Monday.
It is worth noting that BNP had previously attacked Muhammad Yunus over the general election. Fazlur Rahman, advisor to party chairperson Khaleda Zia, sarcastically said, “It was deep darkness during Hasina’s time. But you could see if you shine a flashlight. And now it is deep fog. Even if you turn on two lights, the car does not want to move. The country has become foggy.” Not only that, he said in blunt language that this country cannot be allowed to become Pakistan. The government should arrange for quick elections without conspiring. At the moment, the situation in Bangladesh is extremely chaotic. Attacks and vandalism are continuing in every direction to erase the history of the Liberation War. Hindus and other minorities are also persecuted. Democracy is in danger. The prices of goods are also skyrocketing. Rapes are increasing day by day. Many people think that elections are the only way to fix the situation.
Meanwhile, the Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal has warned of taking to the streets if the law and order situation does not improve, including stopping the atrocities against women. The organization’s president, Rakibul Islam Rakib, gave this warning at a human chain program. He said, “Until today, we have not held any program that would disrupt the activities of the interim government. But if such incidents continue, atrocities against women continue and we do not get fair justice, then we will be forced to take to the streets very soon. We request you to try to understand the feelings of the entire student community of Bangladesh, ensure the trial of the rapists very quickly. Please try harder from today. The trial of rape and atrocities against women must be ensured quickly. If the law and order situation does not improve, we will be forced to point fingers at you.” As a result, more pressure is increasing on the Yunus government.
