Dark Secrets Unearthed at Lilavati Hospital Amid Financial Scandal

A shocking discovery has emerged from Mumbai’s prestigious Lilavati Hospital, where an investigation into alleged financial misappropriation revealed buried containers holding human bones and hair. The scandal came to light after the current trustees of the hospital accused the previous managing committee of embezzling ₹1,200 crore ($145 million) from the institution’s funds. During an excavation beneath the hospital premises, eight containers were unearthed containing these macabre items. Despite initial reluctance by police to file a First Information Report (FIR), legal intervention prompted investigations into both the financial irregularities and the sinister findings.

The controversy centers on Vijay Mehta, brother of hospital founder Kishor Mehta, and his family members, who allegedly manipulated documents during Kishor’s medical absence in 2002 to seize control of the trust. They purportedly replaced him as a permanent trustee and installed their own allies within the management committee. After years of legal battles, Kishor regained his position in 2016, but it was only after his death in 2023 that his son Prashant Mehta uncovered widespread financial discrepancies while auditing hospital accounts. Three FIRs have been registered so far, with probes being conducted by the police and Enforcement Directorate (ED). Meanwhile, forensic experts are examining the unearthed remains under court directives, deepening the mystery surrounding this high-profile case.
