Syria Signs Agreement with Rebel Kurdish Forces

Amidst ongoing violent conflict, Syria’s interim government has reached an agreement with the Kurdish rebels. Syria’s interim president, Ahmed al-Shara, signed the agreement with Mazloum Abdi, the commander of the Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF), a Kurdish-led militia. The agreement is expected to be implemented by December of this year.

Under the terms of the deal, control of Syria’s northeastern regions, which are currently held by the Kurdish rebels, will be transferred to the interim government. This agreement marks a significant development in the ongoing civil conflict in Syria, potentially altering the power dynamics in the region. The deal is seen as an effort to establish some level of stability amid the years of unrest.
