US-Canada trade war intensifies! Trump’s tension will increase, 1.5 million Americans will be plunged into darkness

Washington: Trade tensions have reached their peak after US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose heavy tariffs on Canada, Mexico and China. In response, the Canadian province of Ontario has announced a 25% duty on electricity exported to the US. Not only this, Ontario Premier Doug Ford has warned the US that if the tariffs are not removed, they may completely cut off electricity supply to the US. Ontario supplies electricity to about 1.5 million American customers in New York, Minnesota and Michigan. If the Ontario government cuts off electricity, these areas may face a large-scale power outage. Doug Ford, while severely attacking the US president, said that if the US increases tariffs, I will not hesitate to cut off electricity supply. I feel bad for the American people, because they didn’t start this trade war, they have only one person to blame. The Ontario government will receive an additional revenue of CA$300,000 to CA$400,000 ($208,000 to $277,000 USD) per day from the new electricity rates. This money will be used to support Ontario workers, families and businesses. These duties will be in addition to the $21 billion in retaliatory tariffs imposed by the United States. The Trump administration imposed tariffs of 25% on Canada and Mexico and 10% on China, raising fears of inflation and economic recession. Mexico, Canada and China immediately retaliated. Doug Ford called on Trump to lift the tariffs, saying, “Ontario will not back down until these tariffs are completely eliminated!” The escalating trade tensions between the United States and Canada could affect the economic and energy relations between the two countries. Ontario’s 25% electricity tariff is seen as a strong counterattack against Trump’s tariffs. If the dispute escalates, it could have a long-term impact on US-Canada trade relations.
