BJP MP Satish Gautam made a controversial statement saying that he does not need Muslim votes. He stated, “I do not need votes from Muslims. I become a Member of Parliament with the support of Hindu votes. I never seek their votes, and I don’t want them.” He further emphasized that in Aligarh, he wins elections through Hindu votes and has been elected three times, adding that he would again win the next time with the same support.
Gautam also addressed the issue of festivals at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), asserting that all festivals would now be celebrated on the campus without any restrictions. His comments have sparked debate, with critics questioning the implications of such statements on communal harmony and political inclusivity.
