3 minors chop off fingers of class 11 Dalit student, anger over losing in kabaddi

A group of miscreants chopped off the fingers of a class 11 Dalit student on his way to take a written exam. This incident in Tirunelveli district of Tamil Nadu has shocked the countrymen. According to police sources, the student was going to take a written exam for school with his father. Some people dragged him off the bus and attacked them.
The father was also injured in the beating of the miscreants while trying to save his son.
The son of daily wage worker Thanga Ganesh was studying with great difficulty. On Monday morning, he was going to school in Palayamkottai with his father to take a written exam. On the way, three miscreants stopped the bus at a junction. They got on the bus and forcibly brought the teenager down. While trying to save the son, they also got into a fight with the father. After taking him down, they chopped off several fingers of the son’s left hand in front of his father’s eyes, according to the police.
Not only the boy, but his father was also beaten up. He suffered serious injuries on his head and various parts of his body. The boy’s father works as a daily wage labourer in a brick kiln in a village in the southern part of the district. When people gathered on the road and heard screams, the miscreants fled the area.
The boy, who was bleeding profusely, was first admitted to a government hospital by the locals. Later, he was shifted to the Tirunelveli government hospital. There, the boy underwent surgery and efforts are being made to reattach his fingers. The police have arrested three minors in this incident.
The boy’s family alleged that a dispute had recently erupted over a Kabaddi game. The attack was carried out in anger. The boy had played an important role in defeating a Kabaddi team of non-conformist Hindus. Neighbours said he was a very good Kabaddi player. The boy’s father told the police that it was a completely racist attack. Three people from the Thebar community in the neighbouring village attacked them. Since we belong to the Scheduled Castes, they carried out this attack deliberately. The teenager’s uncle alleged that all three attackers are students of class XI. Even though they are roaming around the area with their chests full, the police are not arresting them.
