Southern film superstar Thalapathy Vijay, who left the world of acting and is currently active in politics, is trying to connect with people from different sections of society through his new political party Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK). He recently organized an Iftar party on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan for the Muslim community.

While many praised the initiative for its harmony, some found political motives behind it. This time, a complaint has been filed against Vijay at the police station over the Iftar party.

On the evening of March 7, Vijay’s party organized the Iftar party at the YMCA ground in Royapettah, Chennai. It was a massive event with the participation of about 3,000 people. Local political leaders, well-known faces from the film industry and imams of 15 mosques in Chennai were present at the event at Vijay’s invitation. Not only that, Vijay also participated in the prayer before the Iftar. There, he is seen joining in with everyone present, chanting ‘Amin Amin’. After this scene went viral on social media, many praised Vijay’s generosity.

Storm of allegations
But the controversy over this event has not subsided. A Tamil Nadu organization, ‘Sunnat-e-Jamaat’, has made explosive allegations against Vijay. They claim that this Iftar party has insulted the Muslim community. The organization has alleged that many people who are not associated with it were invited to this religious event. In particular, they have said that the presence of disorderly and drunk people has defamed the sanctity of Iftar.

In addition, there have been allegations that some statements were made at the event, which were insulting and offensive to the Muslim community. The organization has also said that this event was deliberately organized for political propaganda, which hurt the religious sentiments of a particular community.

Complaint at the police station
Based on this complaint, the organization has filed a complaint against Vijay at the Chennai Police Commissioner’s office. They have demanded that Vijay should express regret for the incident and apologize. The organization said that their step is not for any publicity, but to prevent such incidents from recurring in the future and to maintain religious honor and dignity.

The administration has informed that an investigation will be started after reviewing the complaint. It has been assured that legal action will be taken based on the results of the investigation.

Political context
Vijay is currently busy shooting for his last film ‘Jana Nayagan’. After that, he said that he will fully focus on politics. He is trying to connect with different communities with the aim of making TVK a strong party in the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections.
