97% Drop in Annual Income! Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury’s Shocking Election Affidavit Reveals All

Congress heavyweight Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury has officially entered the fray for the Berhampore Assembly seat, filing an affidavit that reveals a dramatic shift in his financial status. According to the document, the 70-year-old leader saw a staggering 97% decline in his annual income, which plummeted to a mere ₹25,070 in the 2024-25 financial year, down from ₹11.85 lakh the previous year.
Despite the dip in income, the combined assets of Chowdhury and his wife are valued at over ₹12.5 crore. Interestingly, while Adhir does not own any landed property or a house in his own name, his wife holds several prime properties across Delhi, Kolkata, and Berhampore. The affidavit also highlights that while Adhir possesses 200 grams of gold, his wife owns jewelry worth nearly ₹1 crore.
The veteran politician’s legal record is equally noteworthy, with five pending criminal cases listed against him. These include serious charges such as attempt to murder, obstructing public servants, and inciting communal disharmony. However, he has not been convicted in any of these matters to date. As the election fever grips Bengal, these disclosures provide a detailed look into the professional and personal life of the Berhampore strongman.
